Inner Demons
“Inner Demons” is an animated short that showcases the inner workings of the artist’s mind. Three creatures attempt to understand an unknown that has appeared in their midst. Each character tries to unlock the object’s secrets, leading to a chaotic series of events.
The animation acts as a visual metaphor, exploring my struggle to create due to a physical injury. Having tendonitis forced a shift away from digital methods of creation, leading to the use of traditional mediums such as painting, model making and collage. This influenced the conceptual and stylistic choices throughout the making of the animation.
The film takes a light-hearted and humorous approach, using exaggerated movements and slapstick comedy inspired by UPA (United Productions of America) animation and Saturday morning cartoons. It aims to turn a frustrating experience into something fun and playful.
