My final year collection is inspired by the west of Irelands landscape and nature. I took photos in a woods called Belleek Woods near my home in Ballina, Co. Mayo. I used these photos to develop my own printed surface design fabrics which I worked with the photos through Adobe Photoshop to create my own designs .I am inspired by Irish heritage and crafts- I incorporated the craft of hand knitting into this collection working with yarn that is made from recycled Polyester which supports my theme of slow fashion and sustainability. The materials I used in this collection are important to my concept. The Irish company Donegal Yarns kindly sponsored me yarn for my collection. Using this yarn on the Shima, an industrial recognised machinery to create my knitted fabric using Aran stitches to create my own twist on contemporary Irish knitwear.
