Hocus Croakus
Hocus Croakus is a 2D short animated film in which Oswald – a wizard feared by the townspeople of the frog-kingdom – wishes to prove that he isn’t as inherently evil as they all seem to think he is. It follows his decisive battle against the knight Lawrence in a melee that will determine his fate – the first to croak loses.
Will Oswald prove that he and his magic can be used for good, or succumb to the vicious laws of King Croakley?
I created Hocus Croakus to focus on what I personally have an interest in doing in the industry, namely animation, character design, and illustration. It was produced entirely in ToonBoom Harmony using frame by frame animation. The backgrounds were illustrated in Adobe Photoshop and all compositing and FX was completed in Adobe After Effects. With a story focused on character interaction and with visual design inspired by illustrative digital painting, it is the culmination of my four years of study at LIT Clonmel.
