Limerick’s Divine Triptych

The “Limerick’s Divine Triptych” project is a deliberate and thought-provoking exploration of the intersection between contemporary urban life and celestial imagery, set against the backdrop of Limerick City. Inspired by the masterful techniques of artists like Kehinde Wiley, who challenge traditional representations through their work, this project seeks to confront stereotypes and promote empowerment through artistic expression.

At its core, the project aims to reimagine traditional portraiture by placing the resilient and vibrant people of Limerick in regal and heroic poses, adorned with celestial elements. By infusing classical religious paintings with modern-day urban aesthetics, the project challenges conventional notions of representation and invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions of urban communities.

The choice to portray individuals from Limerick in celestial attire is deliberate, emphasizing the universal themes of aspiration, freedom, and resilience that transcend geographical boundaries. Through this juxtaposition, the project aims to transcend superficial distinctions and highlight the inherent dignity and beauty within each individual.

Moreover, the inclusion of triptychs pays homage to historical artistic traditions while offering a contemporary reinterpretation that reflects the diverse and dynamic nature of Limerick’s community.
