Loss
Loss is a puzzle-platformer survival horror game which explores the theory of psychodrama and complicated grief. The game is set in an old abandoned Irish home in Cork during the late 1980’s. This story plays as a silent narrative following the character of Ellie as she explores the mysterious house. The scenario involves Ellie coming face to face with her most feared nightmares.
Loss is a personal look inside what it’s like to be suffering from complicated grief. Grief is defined as not being able to accept the natural healing process; being isolated, including an intense yearning for your lost loved one and the accompanying physical symptoms. This is a personal journey through murky depths, looking for answers. While exploring these themes in a quest to find closure, Loss deals with this subject matter using psychodrama to create an interactive experience.
I used advanced game development techniques and 3D modelling to bring this story to life.
