‘EMBODYMENTS’ # 3 Live Site – Specific Site Responsive Performance - ‘AFFINITIES’ MA in Fine Art Graduation Show Opening, - September 4th, 2024, LSAD Gallery Grounds & Clare Street Park, TUS – Limerick School of Art & Design, Clare Street, Limerick City
Rocky’s Live Art Practice is firmly rooted in the areas of Time-Based Performance Art, Site – Specific and Responsive Performance, with a strong emphasis on Process Performance Drawing. Rocky works primarily in the mediums of live performance, moving image and drawing. Using a process-based performance methodology, Rocky’s live performance works enable him to use his body as architecture and infrastructure within specific environments. Presenting his body as material and a vessel for the embodiment of artifacts, gathering traces from the natural world, he uses his body as a tool implementing the dual processes of mapping and tracing the landscape. Rocky’s site responsive performances further explore this idea of the body as architecture, responding through performative actions, gestures, and movements to site, positioning the work within a contextual framework. He positions his body within internal architectural spaces immersing and engaging with structures and found objects as a form of human architecture.
