simulation.theory()
Simulation theory – the proposition that the entirety of reality as we know it is generated within a computer simulation.
Though at first, this concept seems a bit sci-fi and fanciful, with so much time being invested into laptops, screens and virtual space in modern society, the hypothesis isn’t quite so farfetched. In the larger reality we live in, impending recession, global pandemic, political chaos, and rampant escapism dominate all forms of media.
This piece, set in an Irish town, portrays the simulated reality of structure and life as it begins to error and glitch. Everyday environments become casually corrupted. Visual information goes unnoticed in the grander scheme. The single certainty within both realities is that there is something wrong.
The matrix is broken, but the simulation goes on.
