Suir Blueway VR (Sound Design)
The Suir Blueway VR is a project aiming at developing an interactive kayaking experience within virtual reality with the goal of encouraging young people to experience their local sports clubs. It is currently in development/early access for Quest 2.
As a Creative and Technical Sound Designer, my role involved the overall creation of sound assets to be implemented in the experience. It includes foley and field recording, post-processing of audio files and ensuring a pleasant sonic balance throughout the experience. Technical tasks such as implementing the audio assets into Unity using FMOD as middleware, as well as playtesting and bug reporting. I feel very grateful for the opportunity of participating in the project, as I believe it was of great importance in shaping my audio editing skills, critical thinking and allowed me to meet some incredible people. It furthered my knowledge in recording techniques, “surgical” editing (extreme audio clean-up), game development life cycle, and most importantly, teamwork.
