Rebranding Ireland
Traditionally the hospitality, tourism and investment industries market different images of a nation in order to benefit their own sector. To become more distinctive to international markets nation states have begun to unify the image they project through the development of national brands and identities.
My research and analysis has found that Ireland’s current brand has been successful in the past. However, with increasing competition from countries with strong modern identities it has begun to feel outdated and less reflective of contemporary Ireland.
My work seeks to address these findings by developing an identity that is representational of Ireland, yet maintains consistency between agencies through shared components and standardized logo designs. The new logo spearheads the identity and is complimented by a bold and multi-layered system consisting of seven core elements; typography, colour, grids, imagery, graphic language, texture and pattern. These manifest across key communications including printed advertisements, stationery and promo endboards. All of which are presented here in the form of a film and digital identity manual. These dynamically introduce the brand showcasing the new design system, its applications and the tone of voice.
