The "Getting It" Campaign
The understanding of sexual consent is a growing issue amongst the third and second level student body. Sexual consent is currently a grey area for students and a lack of education on the issue has been adding to the uncertainty. The campaign was created with multiple factors involved, it had to cover all genders, nationalities, sexualities and relationship status with a light-hearted tone.
The strategy of the campaign focuses on people not just “getting it” sexually, but mentally and physically “getting” consent. Most consent campaigns dealt only with female victims and male perpetrators when, in reality, this is not always the case and could happen to anyone in any situation. This is why the “Getting It” campaign animation address a gay couple scenario with Sean and Mikey.
The posters are bright, lively and eye-catching to create a friendly atmosphere and to break down the stigma attached to the issue of consent. The posters play on the innuendo of “getting it” while the hashtag reveals the unexpected double meaning, addressing the issue of consent.
