Solum
Solum is a 3D third person puzzle exploration game that follows the journey of “Unnamed”, a boy lost in an ancient civilisation, unsure what to do or where to go. The player will encounter various puzzles that must be solved in order to progress in the game. Each time, more and more of the city’s secrets are revealed to the player, eventually trying to piece together what had happened to this once great place.
Throughout this journey, the Unnamed will ultimately awaken the enemies that hide in the shadows, cracks and every corner of the city. Much of the game will revolve around puzzle solving using levers, platforms, lights and timing. Running, jumping and climbing are the major game loops the player will use to advance.
Not much is known about Unnamed. As a player, we are equally curious and confused about his past, why he is here and what to do. This is similar Rime, Inside, and Limbo. Nearly nothing is communicated to the player explicitly, it’s all implicit. The use of body language and such to communicate the character’s personality and current emotion state. Nameless and with an age of 12/13 years old, Unnamed, like the ancient city, is a mystery.
