Taking a Chance
Professionally this was an interesting one from a sound design point of view. After completing work experience last year doing “The Wellness Hour with Paaaah!” podcast, it gave me a good learning experience going into this project in terms of location recording, gathering foley and, also mixing. I would like to include this into my showreel to show my skills as a sound recordist/operator and mixer for potential future employment.
For me personally, doing this concept was a real breath of fresh air for me. I wanted to always to a light-hearted short compared to previous projects and assignments. For a radio drama I wanted to make sure my script could read well for that format and luckily it did in my own opinion so that inspiration and motivation to complete it and make it was still there. I also wanted to make sure that recording the foley and sounds for it was not only fun for me but for the voice actors recording these characters that I wrote. So, I felt like this would be a good project for me to make for my fourth-year final year project.
The concept of this film is a light-hearted romance/drama that follows two characters, a young male and female who go on a first date. During this first date they start talking about their life together which is true. Basically, the same young actors gradually getting older in their own mindset, so they sound more mature as the story goes on.
