Cleo’s Forever Home
Inspired by my own life and the visual aesthetic of Tim Burton’s stop motion films ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and ‘The Corpse Bride’, I created a trailer for a fictional children’s book: ‘Cleo’s Forever Home’, showcases a heart-wrenching tale of a young girl and her sister battling through the foster care system until their Aunt kindly takes them in. It doesn’t take long for the girls to discover that their aunt is only interested in one thing—and it’s not their happiness. This encourages them to try and escape before it’s too late. With the help of their newfound friend, Boo, the group comes together to form a plan to get out of Aunt Velma’s clutches and begin their own forever home together.
My aim is to portray the unfortunate reality of some foster care children, in a light-hearted manner, as it is not always a happy ending for everyone. I created a character I felt young children could relate to. I wanted to show that if you are really determined, ambitious and strong that you can get through anything.
