FXPI – Multi Effects Unit powered by Csound
This project is a multi effects processing unit made specifically for guitar. This unit is a means for musicians to create there own effects through programming on Csound. I wanted to create a means for others to get more creative when it comes to their effect choices and how they sound both in a live environment and in a studio setting. I created this project as a means for me to add more depth to my sound and also create a relatively new way for people to think about their own sound and how they can manipulate it.
The pedal is made using a Raspberry pi, a touch screen and a compact audio interface. The raspberry pi is the brains of the pedal as it runs my software (Csound) so that I can create and use my effects. The touch screen and audio interface are used for both audio/visual of the unit. I also made an enclosure for the unit which is a hard case so I can bring the unit with me and ensure its both compact and secure.
Through working in Csound on my multi effects unit, I created a reverb effect and a delay effect. I can change all aspects of these effects and I can change what parameters are being used to control these effects on its graphic user interface (GUI). I also made the option of using reaper on my unit. Reaper can be used for its effects and can be used as a means to record audio onto the unit. The audio can then be transferred into Csound
