Vantablack
Drawing influence and inspiration from old film noir detective stories of the 1940’s and 1950’s and 1980’s cyberpunk dystopian science fiction, Vantablack is a tale of vengeance and retribution. Incorporating a predominantly monochromatic colour palette, vibrant colour is used to accentuate vital elements to the plot points of a murder investigation. The stark black and white look pulls into focus the dark aspects of humanity and the story being told, with each person being made up of both light and dark.
Set in the near future, where mechanical augmentation is unregulated and heavily prevalent in society, Vantablack follows a young man who forsakes his own humanity in the pursuit of the power he needs to get the justice he was denied. This search to achieve what he may perceive as a greater good is what drives the character to push himself beyond his physical and biological limits.
Issues of right and wrong and perspective ideological differences effect both sides of the investigation, a young man, who’s love was taken from him, comes up against a fanatical cult, intent on turning humanity away from terrifyingly advanced technology.
