There are two different styles within the story, one is the little girl’s real world which for the most part is in full of colour. In contrast the imagines world uses a limited colour palette, with all the character animation in silhouette. I wanted the story world to feel hand drawn on paper.
In our world of technology and social media, where people can always be in contact with one another, loneliness is still very prevalent. The little girl in my story is left all alone with no one to tell her story to other than her Teddy. She uses the story and her imagination as a coping mechanism to deal with the loneliness, fear and pain that she feels.
Home is an animated short which follows a little girl as she escapes away into a tent to tell her Teddy a story. The story the little girl tells is about a nameless girl who crash lands on an alien planet. The girl is far away from home and frightened. She explores the strange new planet in search of objects she can use to fix her ship so she can return home to her family. The girls journey brings her far and she sees many things that are strange and frightening. Through perseverance she collects everything she needs to fix her ship.
