Heffalumps & Woozles
Heffalumps & Woozles is an exploration into the whimsicality of childhood stories that we grow up with and how we look on them as adults. Taking inspiration from the drawings by E.H Sheppard that illustrated the stories of ‘Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin’. The bright fabrics give a sense of childhood innocence, the gathering represents the tension and melancholy that was undergoing behind the façade of the adventures in the books. The traditional shirt was transformed when worked on the stand with gathered panels and rouched seams when these elements were combined with the childish fun printed cottons the garments stayed true to their whimsical source. Volume and misfit were key players in the spec of the garments showing how Christopher Robin never felt like he had true ownership of who he was. The role was always slightly too big for him. The collection is a representation of Christopher Robin’s journey with Winnie the Pooh and how it overwhelmed his life to a point where he rejected it completely.
