Ga-Ho Chu

Gang Related is a humorous animated short about a young and dim-witted boy called Ernie. Set in 80’s/90’s Los Angeles, where crime gangs are growing larger every day. Taking inspiration from comedy/parody films.

Gang Related comically tells a story of how Ernie seizes an opportunity to become acquainted with one of these gangs. Little does he know that he has associated himself with dangerous people who know nothing more than breaking the law. He senselessly agrees to join this dangerous gang upon completing a number of tasks. The short revolves around these tests and how Ernie manages to fail upwards.

The short sheds light on the reality of what these gangs truly did, the hardships of growing in this setting and exploitation of the young in ganglands in a comical way in order to give positive awareness of these issues. A constructive way of exposing these problems in a way that makes us laugh.
