“I am not stupid kid” Storybook Design
The designer will be delving into a selection based around the theme of “Dyslexia”, which the designer has chosen with the aim of making more people aware of this condition so that it is not ignored. Children with dyslexia have early access to regular education, normal or near-normal intelligence and adequate socio-cultural opportunities, but still have difficulties in learning to read. This is coupled with a younger age, a lack of understanding in the face of symptoms, and a weak level of knowledge about culture. Parents misperceive the symptomatic child as the cause of the child’s lack of interest in learning and do not fundamentally understand the causes and consequences of what is going on. In today’s society, children are the most vulnerable group in society, they are unable to speak their minds, and children with dyslexia can be mistaken for stupid kid.
In order to help children with dyslexia, the designer has specially designed the storybook “I am not stupid kid”, in which the main character Frank is also a dyslexic child, from the beginning he found out that he could not read and write and was teased by his classmates for being a stupid child, he courageously complained to his parents and went to see a doctor to read in a special way, which changed the phenomenon. Frank helps his classmates around him, thus gaining their appreciation. He proves that he is not a stupid kid by his own efforts. Designer through this design, to help reading children patients should not be afraid of encountering problems, to go and parents teachers and friends to communicate in time. Accept imperfection and change the present.
