Animation Studies of Various Kinds
Semester 1
As a fourth-year student in my animation course, I was required to put together a year-long final project: a culmination of the four years of study. We had no strict guidelines on what this project had to be, other than that it be relevant to the very broad field of study that is animation. Aside from that, we were free to choose whatever we wished to pursue.
Introduction and Reasons for Choosing
My project this semester was to produce a sequence of animated shots for my portfolio. The reason for choosing this was simply because I wanted to develop my portfolio to be in the best position to begin seeking internships or employment in 2024. I wanted to choose a project that would let me focus on my area of interest, which is 2D animation, without needing to spend time doing things in other fields. In Year 3’s second semester, we did a short film of around 30 seconds, and I found that for me personally, I did not get to spend as much time on areas I wanted to on account of needing to do every aspect of the production. Therefore, I specifically tailored this project to let me hyperfocus on those areas.
