Nut Enough
There’s 1000’s of acorns in the forest. They’re only looking for one.
The squirrel and crow are seeking something bigger than them but this comes with risks. The process behind writing the piece was wrought with many successes and failures which led to a focus on one key aspect. Envy. The squirrel and crow represent two sides of human nature with a humourous twist. Fables are often used to explore life lessons while also being fairly simple and accessible so the squirrel and crow adventure like other animals often seen in the likes of Aesop’s. The scrappiness of the former and lax of the latter gives an overall insight into reaching for more than you can chew. The protagonist goes through a major change in response to their friend the crow, as the tone is meant to be lighter than the often harsh realities of the theme of envy. The squirrel being a cross between Scrat from Ice Age and Lilo from Lilo and Stitch make for a childish character who’s a little nutty. The crow is the everloving but exasperated friend who follows along to catch the acorns that fall.
