MOC Poster Collection
The Michael O‘Connor Poster Collection is an eclectic gathering of international posters of historical and cultural significance. The poster Collection comprises approximately 2800 posters of international derivation and was donated to Limerick City Gallery of Art in 1989. As part of a group project, Amy Kenny, Hannah Ross and I executed a plan formulated from extensive research, both design and contextual. The main problem identified was that many posters could not be displayed. In response to this issue, we created the website Planchest X MOC. Planchest is a virtual collection containing thousands of unique unarchived posters. The brand can expand to other art collections worldwide and isn’t limited to the MOC collection. As a result, prompting more artistic collaboration and reaches a broader audience. Our concept is a unique visitor trail experience, which allows for endless discovery and exploration. The website’s navigation and features are easily accessible to many audiences, creating a community of Planchest miners. Along with the entire poster collection archived and an extensive filtering system, Planchest includes elements like ‘Our Music Collection’ and ‘Our Weekly Podcasts’, emphasising the brand’s versatility. Bonus features include hidden messages attached to posters and your treasure chest, where you can archive your favourite gems.
