As it turns out, the overwhelming majority of people on this planet happen to find other people interesting. As the curious child I was, I have always been interested in learning about other peoples’ life experiences. Regularly questioning strangers and family members about their child hood/ interests/ loved ones and opinions. Eventually, this subject matter made its way into my art practice.
My project focuses on the subject matter of my grand uncle. Exploring themes of nostalgia, the photograph, History, and life experiences, which includes family members deceased and alive. These themes collectively feed my overall concept.
My artwork represents my grand uncles history, his understanding, emotion, and knowledge. I showcase how life is so precious. I have primary sourced research from each generation that I work with which are found and borrowed materials and objects.
While documenting and observing my granduncle through the use of photography and film. The intention is to symbolise how experiences shape how we think, how we move, and how we express ourselves.
