Rationale
Process is a short, minimalistic documentary that presents two young artists from contrasting practices, without the immediate presence of a narrative or common theme. Instead, they reflect on their origins, creative process & ambitions, presented in a back and forth structure, speaking openly to the audience without on-screen questioning. Through glimpses of their work, observed keenly from up-close, we gleam insight into their lives, the experiences that form the basis of their artistic expression, and a feeling of closeness and transparency with the world as a viewer. By gradual exposure to the works, we get a sense of how and why each artist was chosen to represent themselves, and seek to learn something new not only about specific disciples of craft, but more so the universal pursuit of catharsis that we extract from creating works, and justifying them to ourselves and the world.
