Dear Liary
Few families adhere to a strict prescription for honesty. For many, lying is an accepted part of daily life and plays an important part in communication. Like watching the 6 o’clock news or squabbling over the TV remote, dishonesty is a common occurrence in every family.
Dear Liary is a publication that explores lying within the Irish home. Inspired by childhood nostalgia and white lies, Dear Liary imagines relationships of total truthfulness, commenting on how honesty is not always the best policy. Following the release of the publication, Spill the Tea, a festival promotional event will take place. It encourages strangers to tell the truth in a pop-up ‘confession session’. A completely honest form of speed-dating, guests are encouraged to tell the truth about topics such as life, relationships and social issues without lying to each other.
